Softdec Tuto ?

Post by CrashMidnick »

Hi,

Is there any tutorial to convert avi or mkv movies to sofdec format and build a SB CDI ? I discovered Fuzzcast releases and the quality is just amazing for a DC. However English is not my native language.

If someone can show me the right direction it would be nice.

Thanks.

U want swats video tool kit from swats download page and tmpgenc.
Reencode your video to mpeg 1 video only and then use tmpgenc to make an audio only stream in wav format.
Then use the dreamcast media maker from swats tool kit to merge your mpeg and wav stream. You'll now have a .sfd media file compatible for dreamcast.
Use one of fuzzcasts cdi's as a template, mount the image, drag all content to a folder. Delete BUMPER.sfd and rename your .sfd video that you encoded to BUMPER, place in the folder.
You now need to download a utility (sorry can't remember the name off hand) that will create a selfbooting cdi image from the folder you've made. Its called something like dcbootmaker.

Many thanks. This is pretty much what I did when used DC MOVIE PLAYER and DC PLAYA back in the day except for swats tool kit. I will use bootdreams to build the SB CDI.

EDIT : If you've got a link for swats that would be helpful, I cannot find it via Google.

MPEG Sofdec uses ADX audio, not WAV.

??? The wav file is not your final output, youre only using it to input into the dc movie maker to create your sfd movie.
