Dreampi dials but no server will respond

Hello, hope everyone is having a good Sunday! I’m hoping to figure this out once and for all. Recently got the dreampi 2 days ago. So I was playing nfl 2k2 then quake III fine and normally yesterday, I also had set up my router to be able to play the games that need the further steps to get online properly, tested them, and they worked great! So in the middle of my game with D-Hustla, I was interrupted by glitchy internet connection all of a sudden then I think I was disconnected from the game. Didn’t think much of it until I tried switching to ChuChu Rocket (which connected fine before like all the rest of the games) and I could dial but when it was searching the internet, I kept getting kicked back to the main menu. Same happens for AFO, 4x4, QIIIA, Star Lancer, Sonic Adventure etc. I reset the internal memory using web browser 1.0 holding X+B and reset the configuration. Gave it another go and still nothing. I deleted all the Ports I set on my router but that didn’t work either. I took down my firewall briefly to test it out. I also tried switching the IP for the dreampi on my router settings for .97 to .98 and back. I disconnected everything and hooked it back up. Disconnected and reconnected the dreampi to my WiFi. Tried different DNS numbers found on the troubleshooting page for the quake dial up configuration screen. Can’t seem to get any luck there. I had a suspicion of maybe being hacked but I’m no expert on how to detect these things. If anyone has a solution, I will GREATLY appreciate hearing it.

Check the Troubleshooting Guide under "I can dial a connection but can’t connect to any game servers.". I'm guessing your Pi or some other device on your network is probably using the .98 IP address and conflicting with the Dreamcast.

Thanks for the reply! So I followed all the steps for that section. I was able to change the dreampi’s IP to .97 and double checked everything. There were no other IP’s with .98, there were only two things connected to the WiFi at the time (desktop and the family TV) and they had different numbers other than .98. I called my ISP provider and they let me know that there wasn’t any blocking of third party DNS servers going on. They were doing a bunch of stuff on their end and I kept rebooting and retrying but nothing worked. What was weird was that after a while, when I was trying to connect via QIIIA, when I tried dialing, a general error message showed up within like 4 seconds of dialing. It said something along those lines. When I tried again it said no dial tone. Maybe something to do with a part of the kit? I disconnected everything including the modem and reconnected then I got a dial tone but same thing, couldn’t connect to the mast server. So this is where I’m at.

Were you able to connect to the Internet but not Q3 master server?

Yes, as in the dream pi is hooked up to the WiFi, both light on the LVI are on, but same message “no response from master server” every time. I tried using the web browser 1.0 and i tried going on the browser, it dialed but didn’t load up the dream pipe page like it would normally.

I recommend using XDP browser disc and select the "Expanded Edition" option just to see if you can connect. There should be a Google URL selection. Pick that and see if you are able to get a web page up. If all is well, let use know so we can go the next step.

So I did just that, still gets a dial and says connected but nothing loading up. I let it chill for a bit and when it disconnected by itself due to lack of input, I tried dialing a connection again but it wouldn’t. I noticed the second light on the LVI was out so I rebooted the dreampi and tried again. Same thing happened even after the two lights were on initially. One of them went out. I rebooted again along with the Dreamcast, then it dialed again. This is the second time that happened. No idea what it could be.

The strange thing is that it was all working perfectly after I had everything set up properly, then in the middle of a match on quake, it stopped working.
