Code: Select all
MODE0 = standard, fastest video mode settings
MODE1 = slower, supports some extra features
MODE2 = slowest, includes window layers (used by some games)
MODE4 = same as MODE0 with background skewing
SKIP0 = no sprite skipping until maximum reached
SKIP1 = moderate sprite skipping, used to prevent major slowdown
SKIP2 = maximum sprites skipped
SOUND0 = standard sound emulation
SOUND1 = sound tempo increased
Yes! I knew of the Ginsu.Command options, but for some games I didn't bother changing them because doing so affected the gameplay negatively one way or another eg: sprite flickering when using frameskip, too much slowdown with mode 2 etc. It's a shame that they had to rush development of the emulator otherwise we'd have a better performing product, the Dreamcast is definitely capable of handling full speed Mega Drive emulation.streeker wrote:mkanderson, thanks a lot for these! In the age of ODEs I highly prefer single game isos over any compilation! I haven't been aware, that this is even possible with the Smash Pack emulator...
Do you have any knowledge about the available settings within the "Ginsu.Command", i.e. MODE, SKIP and SOUND? What are values for these to try out in order to possibly improve the performance of individual games?
EDIT: Okay, found it. Thankfully it's all written down in the Smash Pack instructions addressed to Echelon:
Too bad that there is no option to turn the sound off completely. That's been No. 1 on my wishlist for these settings.Code: Select all
