Do you guys use the keyboard? I got one when I was in high school but never really had a chance to use it outside of The Typing of the Dead. I can get it if you guys use it. I was under the impression most communication is done outside of the game these days.
Also I'd like to join but I'm LITERALLY just getting started so I don't know how quickly I can get up to speed.

Most players use a keyboard. You can get by to a certain extent using the quick chat functions, but a keyboard is well worth it if you plan on playing for a while.
Hi guys! I’ve just been directed to this site having written off the online portion for the DC for many years as I didn’t think it was possible.
I remember getting PSO for the DC the day before it’s official release date when it came out in the uk. Sadly I lost the VMU many moons ago and picked up the game about 8 years ago.
Now from what I’m reading I can still use dial up with some reconfigured dns however is the online play only for V2 and not V1 of the game? The games section on here states V1 but I’m sure I read someone saying only v2 works!? A little confused but hopefully I can get back online soon and dish out all these Hunter items I can’t use
You can play online with V1. However, the vast majority of players are using V2 because of the additional features and improvements it has. Technically V2 players can play with V1, but they need to set-up a game that allows V1 players to join (essentially, limiting everyone to the features of V1).
Essentially, this means that you could go online with V1, but are likely to struggle with finding others to play with. As such, I'd highly recommend using V2 in order to get the best experience.
