Online with Dreamcast Broadband Adapter

Hello everyone, hope you're well! Newly registered and just wanted to ask a few questions regarding using the Dreamcast with Broadband Adapter which should arrive in the next couple of days!

1. I've read online from posts made quite a few years ago that the BB adapter only supports a few titles, is this still the case and if so, which titles are they?

2. I'm really looking forward to getting into PSO v2 online (For the first time since like 2001 or something..), is there a tutorial on how to get set up for this game online? Will i need to use a private server?

3. Does the Adapter support wireless play? I'm assuming no which is why I've ordered an Ethernet cable but thought I'd double check!

4. Is this Broadband adapter set up video still up to date?

Thanks so much in advance!

Welcome fellow Dreamcaster :)

1. Phantasy Star Online, POD SpeedZone, Quake III Arena, and Toy Racer.

2. https://dreamcastlive.net/connection-guide/ got you covered, scroll down to PSO and click to unfold the instructions. And yes you'll be connecting to a private server.

3. The BBA is only for cable, if you wan't it connected wirelessly you'll have to buy an adapter that forms a bridge between ethernet and Wi-Fi. But for the Dreamcast concerned it will always be a "wired" connection. If you were to go for a DreamPi setup, then you could go wireless.

4. Yes that video is up to date

Long story short, if you are only going to be playing PSO, then the BBA is great. If you want to enjoy the other (more recent) resurrected online games, you'll want to look into the DreamPi (which uses the default modem)

I'd highly recommend OldKid's guide for getting online on PSO. It was authored last year and so is up to date. http://old-kid.com/pso/

Thanks so much for your help both!!

One final question, on those games listed, can of them be played online if nobody else is online?

Go hardwired, @ all costs

You can be a hair apart signal but the interference still prevails
