Aspect Ratio Question
Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out. I have my Dreamcast connected to a gekko box and I am really pleased with the picture. That being said I've noticed that the aspect ratio is very slightly squished horizontally. I've been looking into getting a DCDigital for a little bit now and I was wondering if that would display in the correct aspect ratio? I've tried searching for the answer but got a lot of conflicting answers, so I was hoping someone here would know for certain. Thank you!

Re: Aspect Ratio Question
yes, DCDigital outputs in 4:3 natively. pretty sure it'll output in whatever the DC tells it to so if you've a widescreen hack on then it'll do 16:9 but I've not tested it myself so can't 100% confirm.

Re: Aspect Ratio Question
are you sure that maybe it's just some tv post video setting enabled, like adapting the image to the full panel ie?mrazizpizza wrote:Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out. i don't own a gekko box, but watching some tube videos, seems it does respect the native output :

Re: Aspect Ratio Question
The only ways to properly display the Dreamcast's weird aspect ratio:
Dcdigital
Analog display that can adjust horizontal width: ie VGA CRT
OSSC with right settings
External scaler that can properly set active picture area
Probably the retrotink 5x
All other plug and play HDMI solutions will squish the image slightly. 90% of people don't notice.

Re: Aspect Ratio Question
The DCHDMI (or DCDigital) displays at the correct ratio, it's actually one of its main benefits over other plug & play analogue to digital solutions.

Re: Aspect Ratio Question
Thank you everyone for the reply's! Because it'll fix the aspect ratio and just be better all around as a digital to digital solution, I'll bite the bullet and get one. Is there any information about if/when they will be back in stock? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. I do have someone who will sell me theirs secondhand, but if they will come back in stock within a few months I'll wait for that. Thank you!

Make sure you support the guys & order one direct from Dan @ Black Dog Tech - https://www.black-dog.tech/dcdigital.html
Don't buy one of the clone knockoffs from Aliexpress as I've heard people have had problems with them.
