Sega Memory Card 4X not working

I bought a 4X memory card (the Sega official one).
Unfortunately it doesn't work, it doesn't appear in the memory manager at all (so I can't even format it or access it in any way).

Inserting and removing the memory card multiple times doesn't seems to change anything.
The light works when connected, so at least it receive power, but the button for the bankswitching doesn't seems to work as well.

I tried using it with different controllers, tried even on Dreamcast port 3 and 4, but nothing.

Is there a way to fix or it's better to just return it?

I had the same problem. I took it apart and saw that it had a little piece of T-1000 was not soldered down. Probably from dropping. I didn't have an iron or Robert Patrick around so I heated up the tip of a small screwdriver and performed successful surgery. Its been multiple years and moves and no problems since. Just take a rip or a sip and I'll bet you can open it up and get it done! Or you can just return it lol

I opened it, but I can't find anything strange, but I'm not an expert.

Do you see something suspect on my board? Also where was located the issue in your case?

I don't see anything jumping off at me. Mine was broken in 2 places noticeably, but in the pic yours looks good there. Perhaps it got wet? I'm sorry its not much help but thanks for having the courage to open it up.

thanks, don't worry, opening is easy and safe as long you are careful.

When you had the issue, you too had the led light ON and the bank switching button not working, right?

Ithe only thing odd I see is in the last pic is on the right side, its the only discoloration on the whole board. Like its been burnt. Also the connector below the 7 looks different.

You mean the discoloration around letters HCMK?
Shouldn't be the flux used for soldering?
