I tried Stepmania on resolution 320 and it worked, didn´t know stepmania had that option.
My standard resolutions are 321x240.


This piss me off. There is a big space on the left, but noo, we put in the text so much to the right as possibles so there is no room for the hole word.

I have installed the dreamcast to the monitor now.
It was pretty easy, just cuted the cable that goes to pin 6 in the vgabox to get 15khz.

The vgabox takes like everything, even bangai-o now.

I Tried Virtua Tennis, DoA2, Garou and Cannon Spike, those worked fine.

End of the VGA cable there is a jamma fingerboard that connects to a PCB switch and from there connected to the jamma harness and to the monitor.
So, when I want to use the PC I need to plug out the VGA cable from VGAbox and plug it in to the PC, but I will install a VGA switch, and I will install a switch to the PCB switch so I can install a Sega Saturn, so I can switch between 3 devices, or 4 if I connect another VGA device, so I can put in another VGA switch, maybe PS2, so I can play Contra Shattered Soldiers. What I know for sure is that, next time I play PSO online it will be played from the arcade machine.

Yeah, as fast as I´m ready with the control panel and all the cables to the joysticks and buttons are all set there will be more structure. A friend from a swedish forum have done 2 plate boards to each joystick, cause i change out bigger joysticks to smaller, so the screws will be to big for the new joysticks, so I screw the plate board under the old hole and have new smaller holes.

I´m not that happy with the resolution. It runs on 320x240 and it´s native resolution is 256x192 but my Nvidia card sucks, so it will not accept resolutions under 320, so I need to buy a ATI card. That kinda sucks but on the other hand I can play SFIV on it and that will kinda rock and hopefully I can run Bionic Commando Rearmed in low-res.

I will also buy a sega saturn and install it to the monitor. Saturn does already output 15khz so that will be easy with no modications.

So, more cables will come, but that doesn´t do me a thing, I´m mote worried about the space for the consoles and switch for the ethernet cable (one cable goes to PC and one to DC) and stuff. I need presumably build shelves to hold everything in place. I think the best thing should be to build a chest of drawers on the side so you can pull out the boxes if you need to change game or anything

How do you pick which roms you want to play? Is there a keyboard and mouse somewhere that you use to select the game?

For now I use mouse and keyboard when I setup the hole thing, but later I will only use joysticks and buttons to navigate and to do that, I will use GameEx and set the program to run in autostart and from GameEx I can choose between all emulators that exist on PC.

Do you now how GameEx works?

It´s pretty much a program that links things together.

I need to decide which emulators I want to use including Mame and then the program wants to know were on the computer your emulators is and the roms and some more stuff, then GameEx is happy. The very best thing with this is that you have everything under one program and if you want to change a game you just hit ESC(This can be problematic sometimes when you want to ESC something in a game, but I think I can switch that key to something else, like DEL-key), and you can easily create a folder and put short cuts to PC games and setup a emulator in GameEx that says PC Games and link to that folder. Very handy.

I play with the Dreamcast controller right now, just to check everything is ok.
Later I will use USB to DC but the PCB:s from DC arcadesticks. Will use USB 2.0 hub, 2 for the sticks and 2 for the dance pads. Maybe in the future I will another USB 2.0 hub with guns.

Nice stuff guys! I always wanted to own some arcade cabs but I fear I lack the technical skill to keep them working.

The best way to learn about arcade cab is to own one.

When I bought mine for seven years ago, I did know nothing about arcade gaming.

I liked (and I still do), to play dreamcast and I readed an article about building a supergun (connect arcade PCB boards to TV), in a videogame magazine and just one week after I had read the article, I found an arcade machine (Yes, that one on the pictures), in a videogame shop in my city that called Tevespelsbörsen ="The videogame purse") and later Tradition. They had very few games there. I had been there once before and then I bought Virtua Tennis. It was funny, when I entered the shop I saw the crews stand and played the game front of a demo kiosk ( or what you call it), I picked up the empty case from the shelfs and laied it up on the desk. Everyone looked angry at me cause they only had that ex of Virtua Tennis that was in the demo kiok, so when I went out from the shop the crews was borred without the game. That was funny. Anyway.

So the second time I was there I bought the arcade machine and a Sonic wellpap figure, a month later they closed down. Kinda strange shop. I been informed after they closed down that he that had the shop lived there. He had a mattress in the office and used it as a department. It´s hard to come late to the job

If you want to buy an arcade mashine, try to buy a Egret II. They can be expensive but they are reliables and good for beginners and advanced users. You can even rotate the screen easy.
