Re: My Dreamcast Arcade Cabinet
That is a great setup! I also put together a Dreamcast cabinet last year.
After bouncing between varied ideas to run the cabinet, I settled with the Dreamcast because I had a VGA CRT for it. Lightgun games and the arcade leaning library really satisfied my cravings. It turned out to be a great decision and I play the snot out of it.
Adding the Saturn has grabbed my attention. That is a console I missed completely during its run. I may look into the library and how much it would take to make a similar addition. Are you finding that you enjoy those games over the Xbox options in the cabinet format?

Re: My Dreamcast Arcade Cabinet
I am actually. I thought in the beginning that I could use emulation of the xbox to fill in the gaps on things I couldn't play on DC. With coinops it does. But I had some problems when it came to the joystick and buttons. I'm using six buttons and joystick which most of the time works as a dpad. Xbox has two analog sticks and 8 buttons. So I would need to use a controller to play native xbox games. Thats doable. But then problem two: I used zero delay encoders originally and the way they were wired up worked for DC but switched the buttons around for xbox. So I made the switch to Brook encoders. The brook wingman adapters recognize the encoders as xbox controllers now and the buttons are mapped the same for Saturn and DC. And this encoder works for og xbox but I haven't tested it yet. Last is the xbox is so huge compared to other two and I am out of room in the cab unless I add another shelf and do more cable management.tmarvin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 1:41 pm That is a great setup! Saturn has a lot of arcade ports. Many that DC doesn't. So I'm getting VF 1, VF Remix, VF 2, VF Kids, Fighting Vipers and Fighters Megamix with the Saturn (cabinet theme), all playing natively instead of emulation on xbox. A shit ton of shmups and Capcom fighters DC doesn't have. Estimated 700 games between the two consoles.

Super clean. I'd love to build something akin to this at some point, thanks for sharing!
