GDEMU will not fit into the Optical Drive plug on my DC

Post by tp86 »

Hi everyone. Today my friend and I attempted to install a GDEmu on my NTSC-J Dreamcast, but failed to do so as the plug on the GDEmu had a different number of pins to the Dreamcast plug in which the optical drive ribbon plugs into. The ribbon and plug on my Dreamcast for the optical drive is much smaller than what the GDEMU expects. From memory mine is 15 pin but may be wrong and on the back of the Dreamcast it says Asahi Electron. We are wondering if there is anyway to get an adapter to make this work or any other method to make the GDEMU work? Tom

You must have a VA2 console? Post some pics.

What are you guys doing? You don't have to touch any ribbon cables or the like. You undo a couple of screws and remove the WHOLE GD-ROM assembly including metal base frame part (it's just plugged in) and then plug the GDEMU in to the same white connector on the side of the mainboard that the GD-ROM was plugged into.
