Pi won’t connect to servers but has two green lights. WiFi.

Post by clarkdv »

just trying find out why my pi won’t connect to the servers on like any game….. it goes through dial up and says connected (I’ll have two green lights) then it just says won’t connect to servers for most games I.e. quake and internet game pack and 4x4. Sega Tetris it won’t get past the connect screen. Could it just be because I’m too far from my WiFi router? Just wondering if there’s any other known solutions

What image are you using?

Also you mention WiFi, I know it’s a stupid question but you have gone in and actually connect your WiFi yes?

Shoot yeah I’m looking at my list and it’s not showing on my router anymore. Maybe I need to reconnect it. Thanks! I’ll update you when I get it done

Many games require two-way traffic between the two consoles and/or the game server. As a result, your console's local IP address on your home network needs to be public facing.

A simple way to achieve this is to DMZ the console's local IP in your modem/router settings. The default IP address for the Dreamcast itself is 192.168.1.98. If you aren't hosting any services at home that you need to access from the outside internet (i.e., port forwarding to a local server), then you should just DMZ 192.168.1.98 and call it a day.

It sounds like you might have an IP conflict, meaning another device on your network is using the .98 IP address that the Dreamcast is supposed to have. This would result in exactly the symptoms you're describing.

See the "I can dial a connection but can’t connect to any game servers." section of the troubleshooting guide here:
