Thanks for the tutorial. I last set up my SD card about 2 years ago. Can I ask how many games you've managed to put on one SD card? The reason I ask is because I had issues with more than ~256 games in OpenMenu. I never figured it out, so ended up using GDMenu.

You're welcome :D

My SD card contains 358 disc images, not including the disc image for openMenu itself.

I've helped quite a few people with the process of converting their old GDmenu SD card to openMenu, as well as configuring things like artwork and metadata. As a result, I decided to set aside a little time to put together a video tutorial. My hope is that this tutorial once and for all teaches people who easy this process can be.

Thank you for this. I am brand new to Dreamcast and the gdmenu mod and you made setting up my sim card with openmenu easy.

Sorry if this has already been asked but I legitimitely own Xenocider but it never came with a GDI image and the CDI it does come with used to crash this software. Has stuff like that been resolved? That's why I've always remained on the traditional menu.

There is a GDI image of this game, but the rules of this forum prohibit sharing links to commercial homebrews

Xenocider CDI plays just fine with latest openMenu.

Thanks Derek for the tutorial, it is really clear and well presented. I have been using open menu for a while and thought I was a total pro at setting it up. Turns out I was completely unaware of the dat tool and how to customise the images.

Very glad you found it useful!

You may also be interested in using customized "folders", as well as an updated cheat database. Check the description text in my two videos below.
