Need help to extract soundfiles from Ooga Booga

Post by Hoodooo »

Hello everyone!
I came here, as it is my last hope to find help with my goal - to access voicelines and generally all soundfiles of "Hoodoo" character in Ooga Booga game. I have no prior experience of working with such old systems and I have very little clue what I am doing right or wrong.

What I've done & discovered so far:

1 - Downloaded the game. It had one .GDI file and some .BIN & .RAW files that are all called "Track" with 01 to 05 numeration.

2 - Figured out that I can't access .BIN files through any of the software I had like PowerISO, DaemonTools or 7Zip. Opening them would just result in an error. After doing some google search, I realized that all "Track" .BIN files are "managed" by this one .GDI file, which I tried to work with. Found some "GDI Extract" tools on the internet, which helped me to extract files from there.

3 - Going through extracted folders I found two that might be the ones I am looking for - SOUND and STREAMS

- The SOUND folder has weird .IFF files, which I was not able to open in any way yet.

- STREAMS folder has more subfolders, that are named with character names. Great! That's what I need - I thought. But there are only weird and light .SS files I've never seen before, that I am also struggling to open / access. But their naming suggest that these are exact sound files I need.

4 - I tried to convert these files to .ADX format, tried to open them with software like Foobar 2000 - no success.
At this point I just need someone to confirm that these .IFF and .SS files truly store audio and I need advice on how to get .MP3 files out of them.

Maybe I am using wrong software or doing something wrong. Ooga Booga was one of the first games I touched in my life and I really want to preserve some sounds of my favorite character. Hope somebody on this forum will be able to help.

Happy holidays and thanks in advance!
