My Dreamcast only play games without the top shell

So, I have this Dreamcast for more than a decade now. Just as any dreamcast, it had its share of random resets over the years, but it always worked after the usual procedures like cleaning the pins and make sure it had a good connection.

For the last couple of years, I faced a different issue. Instead of resetting, the Dreamcast went back to the menu like the lid was opened during gameplay.

Again, cleaning and benting the pins did the trick, but it became more frequent to the point that it can't hold a game for more than 10 minutes before going back to the menu by itself.

After some reserch, I learned that the lid switch becomes dirty and cause this issue, but here's the thing. I also use a gdemu alongside the drive and when I'm using, it also has this going back to the menu problem.

Now, finally to the main topic of the title. After testing a lot a stuff, my Dreamcast worked flawlessly for hours without the top shell. Both with the drive (with some tape on the lid switch) and with the gdemu.

Soon as I try to play something with the shell on it goes back to the menu 10 or so minutes later of gameplay.

Any thoughts, you guys?
