HKT-4100 issue

I have had a search and cannot see any answers to this -

I have a 4x memory card (HKT-4100) that I have had a while - got as part of a large lot that was sold as seen.

Now trying to use it and its not being detected by the DC - it lights up when plugged in but the Dreamcast just doesn't see it.

Pressing the button doesn't do anything either?

I have cleaned all the pins on the connector and cannot see anything visually wrong with it (inside or out) - anyone any knowledge of why it might not work?
