Weird graphics issue when dics drive is spinning

Ok, I'm recording this for posterity:

I picked up another DC that didn't have either graphic issue (the weird black lines when a disc was spinning or this double/ghost issue). I swapped the power supply I had previously bought/installed into this problematic one. At the same time, I swapped the power supply from the newly acquired DC (remember, this one had no issues) into the problem unit.

The result was that BOTH issues are now present again in the original DC. What this means is that the new PS masked the real issue, and I'm guessing if I recapped the unit that it would fix both issues. If I end up capping it in the future (might be a good candidate for my first recap project) I will make sure to update this thread.
