First time dreamcast owner checking in

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently picked up my first dreamcast console. An early PAL VA1 from what i can gather - it still uses the VA0-esque metal fan. Strangely, there were no screws attaching the PSU to the case but im unsure if that is expected?

Today I modded the console, adding a GDEMU (clone) and swapping in a DreamPSU. I’ve got a 12V 5A DC power cable coming later on too to help with any video noise etc.

I did buy a noctua fan and mount kit, but annoyingly my model isnt compatible with that mod. Note to self, open the console before making purchases next time.

Either way, really enjoying tinkering with my first ever dreamcast at the moment, open to suggestions on any mods/games etc. and looking forward to chatting to you all some more!

Welcome! Strange, I’ve never heard of a VA1 with a metal fan. The lack of screws in the PSU makes me wonder if someone swapped VA0 guts into a VA1 shell. You may want to verify. The GDEMU will receive too much voltage in a VA0 Dreamcast unless resistors are replaced on the motherboard.
