Yeah that's a good point. It probably would've been a PS1 port instead of developed with the rest of the 6th gen versions. I guess they could've contracted it out like the N64 version for a Dreamcast specific version.Dreamcastnews wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 9:02 am I always assumed the Dreamcast sold between 9-10 million consoles, it seems to drop as the years go by for some reason.
I'd be interested to see how many copies of THPS2 sold on the DC versus the N64, considering the user base for both consoles was quite high in the USA, you'd think it would be a given to finish up a port of Pro Skater 3 for DC, but I think had it happened, we'd all be here talking a different tune with Activision giving us probably a washed out port based on the previous game like the PSOne version was .

(one quick Google search later...)
Nintendo 64 sold 32 million units
Dreamcast sold 8.6 million units
The money men (producers, I guess) would have looked at the numbers and assumed the n64 was the much safer bet.
How feasible would it be to get THPS3 running?

I think you can mod these games with assets from other games using same engine. You can use Matt Hoffman stages in THPS I think. I remember there was a PS1 mod for the game that allowed it, so don;t see why same for Dreamcast wouldn't work. Not unless you tried porting PSX levels which might be different format to DC ones, but trying to mod one of the other games into an unofficial version might be doable.
