Just ordered DC online, Where to start with PSO?

Post by LolcowCocaine »

Big PSO fan, only played solo DC and BB. Just ordered my LVI for online, but I'm seeing a few things:
  • I'm hearing of Sylverant and Altamira. Which one do I choose?
  • I've heard of the enhancement pak, is this commonly used at all or worth it, and will it cause desyncs if I dont have it?
  • How active is the game these days? I dont know if I'll find games outside of the scheduled time lol
Thanks :)

I also hope there are some other low level players because the solo grind is super slow on DC haha

'cello feller Flawdi'ian!!!

Sylverant and Altimira are one, you connect to Sylverant then four ships to choose from with their quests to choose

As to EP it wouldn't have happened if was team-breaking and I forgot whom told to me, it's useful from scratch to finishing VH diff then you want to fall-back to stock game a good while up around 120s into Ult diff to be able to carry yourself in it

I can recommend Ragol server for you as an alternative (QoL features and fair drop system).

Got a DC a couple of weeks ago and went to the same route.
Took me a while to get online because I decided to build the LVI myself lol

But yeah, after 60 hours, still level 32 or something.

Looks like Sylverant is the common choice… I popped online a couple of times and there were 3, or 5 people there at the time.

Wish I could carry over my character to PC or another platform to play Episode II with it.

But nevertheless playing on DC is something really unique, dunno how to explain but is really cool! :)

There's usually a good handful of folks on in the evening on Sylverant. Playing online with other folks is the quickest way to level up for sure. Does your DC have an ODE (GDEMU, MODE) or are you still playing with discs?

If playing with discs, you'll need to make sure you have a VA0 or VA1 unit to be able to play burned discs as you'll need to burn either a loader disc or a fully modified version of PSO to be able to connect to Sylverant since SEGA servers are long gone.

You can tell which revision Dreamcast you have by looking at the number in the circle next to "NTSC" on the bottom of your console (assuming you have an NTSC unit). It'll show either 0, 1, or 2, which corresponds to VA0, VA1, or VA2 respectively. VA2 units unfortunately cannot play burned discs.
  • SEGA Dreamcast VA1 :: GDEMU v5.20.5 :: OSSC/MAMBA SCART :: PSO Guild Card #36420
  • SEGA Saturn VA7 :. Saroo v0.7
  • SEGA Genesis Model 2 VA2.3
