[VIDEO] DreamConn S: The ultimate next-generation Dreamcast wireless controller!

Post by ateam »

I’ve just put together a video overview of the brand-new DreamConn S from Chris Daioglou of DreamMods.net. While no official product page exists for it yet, by purchasing a DreamConn+ from his website today, you are automatically signing up for a DreamConn S.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about this amazing wireless controller for the SEGA Dreamcast!

Chris’ DreamConn line of Bluetooth wireless controllers for the Dreamcast is nothing new. They’ve been available for purchase for some years now. However, his latest iteration, the DreamConn S, packs a huge punch with some killer features (listed below).

• New shell and custom faceplates for VM2.
• Original hall effect analog stick.
• Seamless VM2 integration.
• Support for Jump Pack or second VMU in Slot 2.
• Support for 4x memory card and third-party memory cards.
• VMU buzzer support.
• Faster VMU LCD icon updates than DreamConn+.
• Faster VMU synching than DreamConn+.
• Controller and VMU icon support in Flycast.
• USB-C fast-charging.
• Automatically removes save protection from all files of any inserted VMU.
• Latency of about 10-15ms.

All of the above is covered in my video review, so check it out if you’re interested!

I always strive to keep OEM original remotes for all my systems (now PS5 is trash life that I stay wired and I'm original first owner lol..)

More shit to charge dealbreaker to me but I do appreciate the sheer brilliance they are to create

I think its just the price point. Thais certainly what put me off from buying one. Looks like a great piece of tech otherwise. I started to look into the possibility of modding controllers to provide wireless functionality via Bluetooth, but I think the sticking point that I found was the sensitivity of the DC and maple bus when it comes to timing. I think we need people much smarter than I to help.
