Behind the scenes of Half-Life Dreamcast's conception: an early prototype and exclusive testimonials

Half-Life Dreamcast:

To celebrate the New Year 2025, I offer you an impressive early prototype of Half-Life Dreamcast, 7 months before the known ones, with its Making Of narrated by the programmer from Captivation Digital Laboratories and the producer from Sierra.

The HL DC prototype's particularities are numerous, as rarely seen. They touch on every aspect of a video game (Programming, Level Design, UI/UX, Game Design, Game Art, Game Feel). You'll find out why it was cancelled and how it was developed. Quite a challenge!

This Half-Life Dreamcast prototype is full of surprises. The inside jokes from developers at Captivation and Gearbox are funny “WASSUP”. It allows us to see the evolution of the levels up to their final version.

I'd like to thank Jeff Probst (Producer for Sierra) and Robert Morgan (Founder of Captivation) for their testimonials about the Dreamcast port of Half-Life.

KRAD Dreamcast:

KRAD, a forgotten tech demo, is a part of the Dreamcast legend. Designed by Captivation Digital Laboratories, the same team who created Half-Life DC, it merits rehabilitation in the console's history. The studio's founder, Robert Morgan, takes us behind the scenes.

Shenmue Dreamcast:

Presenting an early American prototype of Shenmue on Dreamcast, a piece of art more than a game. The English translation is shaky. The build has a Debug Menu with test maps. A tester explains its US QA.

I'd like to thank Mike Rhinehart (Lead Tester) for his testimonial about the Shenmue beta test phase.

To celebrate the site's 5th anniversary, as the build dates back to May 23, 2001, it's the perfect day to show you an official copy of Half-Life Dreamcast, with scans of the manual to dress it up in your home. The 2003 leak comes from one of these discs!
