Re: USB4MAPLE adapter

the GP2040 project is focused on making arcade sticks, so i didn't make any modes for it in usb4maple, it will always be detected as an arcade stick.
i can't add analog and D button support to the arcade stick, because some games won't consider such a controller as an arcade stick.
the original arcade stick has only the stick itself, six buttons A,B,C,X,Y,Z and a START button, all these elements are specified in the device configuration, if i change the configuration, some games will stop recognizing it as an arcade stick.

@megavolt85

I had assumed that you specified the mappings... When you see X data, send Y dreamcast code.

So it's not possible to say (for this GP2040 mode as an example);

If I see:
- 00 00 00 00 08 80 00 80 80: UP [Left Analog]
or
- 00 00 01 00 00 80 80 80 80: UP [D Pad]

Send <DC code for Up>.

Basically the same as it works when in twin stick mode.

On most fight sticks there is setting that says which input mode the stick sends directional input, but not all of them. Some the stick is mapped to the dpad, some it is mapped to the left analog. Some GP2040 sticks might have it one mode or another and the user might not know how to change it.

Currently with the recent build the directional inputs only work if it is in dpad mode, it would be a nice quality of life feature if it it worked for either.

Since I'm able to put any connected controller into "twin stick" dreamcast controller mode. I had assumed that the "dreamcast device emulation" was independent of which which USB device was detected. Can't it be enabled where any device (PS3/PS4/PS5/Switch Pro controller/etc.) could be put into "arcade stick mode"?

Have you considered opening the source up so the community would be able to update add new device support?

If those payment methods don't work, is there any ones that would work where you are at?

Thanks!

Apparently I misunderstood you, the left stick and HAT were mapped to the DC D-PAD

USB4MAPLE adapter Install Difficulty

Post by colrust »

Good morning

Hopeful someone can help with my first attempt at install.
Pictures are posted:

Wiring is all color coded.
The image is properly flashed to the raspberry pi (tried two different ones)
Controller (logitech) does not do anything nor is there a display on the LED screen.

Thank you in advance.

Logitech - what model? Most likely the Pi is not seeing a compatible controller. Try a known compatible controller: http://usb4maple.wikidot.com/

The screen won't come on until you have a working VMU, which means you'll need a splitter/hub and a USB Flash drive.

LCD VCC (red) connected to 3v3_EN (pin 37), but need to 3v3(OUT) (pin 36).

in order for the display to show an image, the dreamcast must see the controller, then it will check for the presence of the VMU and only after that it will send the image to the display

@pcwzrd13 Can you add this info to the usb4maple wiki? Too many people are getting confused why their screen isn't working.

Working on it... https://youtu.be/aVQQYrFQlXQ
Hi! The Saturn adapter looks awesome! How is it going with that project? Will you do a public release of it?
Yes, I will make an announcement when it gets released. I hope to release it in a month or two.
I don't have much free time to develop it. But it's already working pretty well, very stable.

Hi!

I was wondering what the latest update is for the Saturn adapter you are/were working on?

Cheers

Has anyone noticed any issues with having too many usb4maple devices plugged in at once?

I am able to plug in 3. But the moment I plug in a 4th, one of the controllers stops working.

If I am using a usb4maple unit with a VMU screen, the number of controllers I can use at once drops to 2.

I connected three at the same time, keyboard, mouse, xbox360 rf module with LCD display and usb flash drive.
most likely it's time for you to replace fuse F1 on the controller board
