Yes, this is true. You can also boot burned games on a Dreamcast that has a Number 0 on the Bottom (Mine is).

Well mine doesn't boot burned games and it has a 2... should I get a Dreamcast that has a 1 or is there something else I can do so that it can play burned games?

Edit: Actually, I found out the problem. I have an NTSC Dreamcast and I need a PAL Dreamcast. So, if anyone has one that they aren't using anymore, PM me please.

sol4132, looks like you need to do the time on this forum and see the workings of the dreamcast my man.

In Short:
You have a NTSC dreamcast, if you want to use your PAL games you can just put a boot disc in(utopia, DC-X, etc) or just go to the download section where the amazing tuxthewise(and vasily) has a whole list of games that will self boot on either system.
but of course you can buy a whole new PAL system if you really want.

-Dreameye

Also, any Dreamcast built before October 2000 will boot burnt games. Mine is from Febuary of 2000, and I get DCResurection versions that Tuxthewise makes, and they all boot on my system, be it a Pal or Ntsc-N or Ntsc-J game.

Despite many forums that claim certain year Dreamcast do not read CD-R's, I have never seen a Dreamcast that didn't boot from a CD-R. This has been declared as one of the Dreamcast myths.

Here is your proof:

Well, that is good news. I will eventually buy a brand new Dreamcast from Ebay or Amazon, if they still have them. I really don't have the kind of money that Adam has lol, or I would buy original games too haha.
