I mean if the cable only supports like 3 games total. Its really pointless. I just wish i could play sports games with 2 monitors. That would be a dream of mine. Also, playing the fighting games on 2 monitors to make it feel like I'm at an arcade.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to be pointless

Consider how unpopular system link was with the original models of PlayStation. Feature never really caught on and Sony ended up cutting the feature from all the latter redesigns of PS1. I think had Sega opted to use ethernet and standard networking protocols for the system link games instead of a proprietary cable setup like the PS1 had it would have been used more by the developers than what it was.

We may never know whether it was Sega or Microsoft's idea, but Xbox had traditional system networking capability out of the box. And wow has that continued to be a popular feature even now with the Xbox 360.

wtf! fighting games were never meant to be played on 2 monitors. i use to play street fighter 2 and other games at the arcade. we used one screen on one arcade! you don't need to have 2 when both players always stay so close. the same goes for sports games. now if you wanted to play shooters i could see the need for 2 of them. or maybe a racer but good lord why would you need to have 2 monitors for sports?

I just think it would be cool to have 2 screens for sports game just so you couldn't see what the other player was doing. But it doesnt matter anymore, playing online is better than system link.
