Why don't we port some Naomi games ourselves?

Post by rooster »

I know nothing about programming, but how hard can it be?

Maybe it's a stupid idea, but I'm just throwing it out there.

I heard about a project where some science research project was finished by using a mass of online 'helpers', people who knew nothing about science, but in the end, helped to solve some DNA research problem.

So... if the trouble with porting a Naomi game to DC is mainly in the amount of work, if it can be broken into small pieces and delegated, could we work together to accomplish it?

Its not about the amount of work but maybe the fact there is no source code to use for porting? Without source code your not really going anywhere.

There are some Naomi GD-Rom Images on the net. These could be used for source code, I believe.

Rooster, without a games source code it's near impossible to port it to a different platform. Ofcourse in theory one could reverse engeneer a game and then port it, but that takes an "Einstein programmer" to pull it off. Also take into account, IF it was that easy...... then SEGA would have ported lots of NAOMI games and released them as budget titles in 2011/2012.

Fact is; porting and optimizing a game takes LOTS and LOTS of time.
