Best robot/mecha game on DC?

What is the best robot game in your opinion? I know the gameplay is fairly different in all of them, but they all involve you controlling a robot and destroying other robots... so that's enough to classify them all together and run a poll I think

I vote Tech Romancer. It has a lot of replay value with the different stories, and you can play as a bunch of different types of robots. So even if you're more of an Evangelion guy than a Gundam guy, you can have your preferred choice. The music was pretty cool, too.


I know there are a few more games with robots, such as Marionnette Handler, Super Robot Wars, and Gundam Battle Online - but I think these are all turn based/strategy games rather than action games. So I left them out of the poll.

The obvious ones missing from your list are: Space Griffin, Slave Zero, Macross M3......all pretty decent games. Maybe even Charge'n'Blast ?.

It makes no difference to my vote though, as that goes to VOOT. It's not too bad to play with the pad but, obviously, it's much much better if you're lucky enough to own the Twin Stick. and play it that way.

I def love Tech Romancer. Its a very charming game and an awesome spiritual sequel to Capcom's Cyberbots. But VOOT is a Mecha fans dream come true.

VOOT ftw! Tech Romancer wasn't half bad though, i really liked the style of it. I honestly hated Frame Gride however.

It makes no difference to my vote though, as that goes to VOOT.

Many good games, but it is impossible to top this experience. If you've ever played a mech game in an arcade, and then played any of the Virtua On series in the arcade, it sort of blows the others out of the water.

The ps2 one is pretty decent too, the thumb sticks did OK replacing the twin sticks.

I gotta say, Side Story was pretty fucking awesome when I played it a couple years back. Unfortunately the last couple times I've tried to play it I haven't been able to pass the first level out of frustration but I can guarantee that if you are ever forced into a dark room with only a DC and Side Story and play it for a few hours you might end up liking it!
