I can connect later to confirm that there aren't any issues with planet ring server. However I can tell you at least that it's been running for the past 38 days; no crashes.

This autoconnect disc that you're using, it does connect to our server right? We didn't make it so I'm not sure which hostname they put in the disc to connect to.

As for which browser to use to set up your DC I don't think it should matter too much. If your DC connection settings are working with other games you should be able to connect just fine to this one. I use planetweb 2.6 for mine.

One other thing worth mentioning is that when using regular dial up this game ignores the DNS servers you enter into your browser configuration. So using a DNS server to connect to the game would not work. However if you are using a PC-DC server or netopia to connect you can set the DNS server on your PC/netopia router to 96.253.36.43 and it should connect.

If it's the disc I have, it directs to dctalk.no-ip.info. I thought that they might be having DNS issues at first, but with legitimate dialup in the case of gamerkid that shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe DNS settings should be set to 0.0.0.0?

I'm not saying this is definitely the cause of the connection problems but it's best to try to eliminate all possibilities and not make assumptions about how programs behave.
I remember actually going into the options, switching to user and ruining my setup on Dream key. I'll try that again, this time changing the settings also. I'll give feedback here if it works.

In my case that won't work, since I require to have a certain kind of DNS input in both Windows 98 and all these Dreamcast browsers in order to make a connection. Or am I wrong here?

Tested it out with the method you told of. Didn't work.

It's most likely a DNS issue as Brourke pointed out. Do you have DNS forwarding turned on in win route?

It's been in n a while since I've used a win98 pc-dc server, but it seems you have I'll need some way to assign DNS servers to the Dreamcast.

The autoconnect disc could probably be modified to use an IP address eliminating the DNS issue, but you'd have to re-burn the disc every time the server IP changed.

So I checked the Winroute security and enabled all ports to be fully open, like you said. Tried again, still nothing. It is negotiating with the PPP server and falls out straight after.
