I'm not offended buddy, just curious.It's just that over here we kinda keep the gf/wife thing strictly separated on the basis of that piece of paper.

I don't know anyone who uses the term "wife" when he is not married...maybe it's a cultural thing

Must be cultural because in Australia we refer to girlfriends as "the missus" and even in law after 12 months of living together it us no different to being married.
My initial remark was a poor attempt at a "wife" joke. Im 40 been married for 13years and have 5 kids and the other day my wife saw me playing sega bass with the fishing controller. I got asked when I got it and how much was it. Just the usual questions you get asked by your wife/partner and because she hadn't seen the controller before that was the "collecting by stelth" part of my poor joke. Again didn't mean to offend or get anyone offside.
So back to sega bass.

I think it has to do with the alpha male thing. We feel obligated to take the heat for our women because we want to show them that we're providers.
