Swap trick with linux?

Is it possible? I have a PC-DC server with win98 and one with linux but I can't seem to get a swap trick working with the linux pc-dc method. I'm using a 77HP-G Tone generator for the swap trick(I don't have a landline) so if any of you know how to do this or if you can do this please help me.
