I thought this would be an interesting discussion. Since there are many guides and software on the net on how to get your dc online i find that not too many people are actually online. So the question is for the member here that hasn't yet, why is your dc not online and what can we do to help?
With the possibility of AFO being online soon it'd be a good idea to get your setups together. With stuff like the skype group its pretty easy to find players. And the more that get online and join that would make the online community for this thing grow alot
Which would be pretty awesome

Re: Why is your Dreamcast not online?
Hi, I have burned the boot cd last week, it works fine with my PSO v1.
But when I'm seeing there is a hunter online (in the servers page), I go to that ship and see nobody.
So I'm waiting to have a keyboard for chat, the game experience is better.
My hunter's name is Wardencyffe, he's lvl 17 now.

Re: Why is your Dreamcast not online?
Ver.1 players cannot see Ver.2 teams, so if you know somebody is online but can't see any teams, that player is either on Ver.2 or GC. Ver.2 users can create Ver.1-compatible teams, but you have to catch them in the lobby to ask them to play with you.

So I have to buy a PSO v2 in order to play with others, because I'm always alone with v1... I hope I'll find it in amazon or something else

Re: Why is your Dreamcast not online?
Because of the sheer complexity of setting up a PC-DC server. I am pretty damn good with computers. Hell, I built my own gaming PC from scratch 3 and half years back, so I am no slouch, but even the clearest instructions for setting it up require a lot of patience, and that is something I don't have when it comes to that. Plus I am on Wifi, and don't have a way to plug in a phone line anywhere yo my PC since it is not that old and has only Ethernet. Plus I don't want to mess with a VM.
When the kinks get worked out of the DreamPI I will go that route as it looks light years easier than the older ways.

Re: Why is your Dreamcast not online?
I understand you not wanting to do pc-dc. It does take a certain kind of person to do that lol
But its not as hard as it seems. The guide is just dauntingly long. All you really do is install vm software + ubuntu, download mgetty and gnome-ppp and edit 3 text files. The voltage inducer too seems daunting but you're only tapping one wire and adding a resistor, capacitor and battery clip. You don't even need to solder you can use tape
But if kazade adds dialtone generation and redirects to current servers on the pi then traditional pc-dc will be completely obsolete
