Thanks A LOT for these words. I personally worked my ass off with that goal in mind. So I guess it was worth the effort.
krssn wrote:Nothing tops the respect I have for Duranik and the high standard they set for aftermarket DC games, but it's a close call.
I'm a huge fan of Duranik's work too. I wrote a great review about Sturmwind for Games Tribune Magazine back in its day and sent them a copy of the mag to Germany. Great guys.
krssn wrote:However, I do think the goal was set way too high. Let alone the stretch goals, which you have to admit are insanely high...
The goal was even below what we calculated the game would cost us, in terms of work hours. We are talking about hundreds of original 3D models, 100% original 10 stage designs (not just 5 as many classic arcades and other recent indie efforts), mechanics, different environment physics, thousands of textures, and all of that for a 15+ year old console. This is not Unreal Engine, Havok or whatever. If it wasn't a confidential (by a non-disclosure agreement) document, I would gladly share the work hours estimation here (we've always aimed for total transparency, you guys know that already). We decided to price our work hours at $10 and some of us (yours truly) even agreed to work for little to nothing. We knew the game would imply many more work hours and still decided to do it because we love the project, love the console, and loved the idea of bringing something completely new to the scene.

If the stretch goals are insanely high, well... that's another story and we can debate it, there's lots of factors implied. But the main funding goal is, 100% honestly, quite modest if I could show you the insane amount of work this game implies.

We could have gone for a 2D shmup, or a 2D on-rails shooter even, why not, but chose to go the extra mile.

That being said...

I sincerely, deeply appreciate what you did (the Mastercard and all that), and thank every single one of you for your support. THANK YOU.

I think the small size of the DC community simply could not sustain the fund amount.
There's not enough of us. I literally have no money so I could not back.

Were the 3ds and pc versions going to be enhanced over the DC version? People on these formats may expect more in the visual department than DC game may offer. Finally I think releasing the tech demo may have been a mistake. Perhaps create a small polished playable demo that would win over fans and then try again, perhaps indiegogo. Or recruit more help from the DC community to speed up the work?

Anyhow I am still interested in this game. Let us know what ye decide to do and best of luck. I do think the look of the game is spot on and the main heroine is very cool maybe even iconic.

This game will happen (its happening already) but in another way, maybe a more clandestine way... through the traditional Dreamcast publishers, maybe?
