WIFI issues
I followed PC's video and double-checked that everything I put in was correct, but when I enter the command "ifconfig wlan0" i dont get the "inet" address. What did I do wrong?

Re: WIFI issues
Hi!
Write in the shell:
lsusb
And try to find your wireless in the list, like here:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 148f:3070 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2870/RT3070 Wireless Adapter <------
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0bda:0169 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Mass Storage Device
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. 4-Port HUB
....
if not, your wifi is one of the few not compatible, you will need to install some driver for it.
If you checked fine the turorial, is the only part that left to check maybe.
In the tittle don't says nothing, but i imagine that you are talking about Dreampi
Good luck!

Re: WIFI issues
Like Jako said, first make sure your Wi-Fi adapter is compatible. Also make sure your Wi-Fi router name (SSID) and password (PSK) are correct. These are case sensitive.

Re: WIFI issues
I have the official Wi-Pi dongle, so I know it's correct. I'll go through with what Jako said and see if it works.pcwzrd13 wrote:Like Jako said, first make sure your Wi-Fi adapter is compatible. Also make sure your Wi-Fi router name (SSID) and password (PSK) are correct. These are case sensitive.

Re: WIFI issues
The Wi-Pi dongle is not official. It's made by a third party. This one is the official one. Regardless, I do believe it should work out of the box but I could be wrong.stachlj958 wrote:I have the official Wi-Pi dongle, so I know it's correct.
You need to type in "iwconfig wlan0", not just "iwconfig".stachlj958 wrote:If I type in iwconfig, it says "ESSID off/any" ....I'm not connected, am I?

Re: WIFI issues
I thought the official one was called the Wi-Pi dongle. That's the one I have. I typed in "iwconfig wlan0" and it says the same thing as it did before except there aren't the lines that say "eth0" and "lo" arent there. Does that mean the wifi dongle isn't configured properly? It said it worked when I tried it when i had raspbian open, before I put dreampi on the SD card with it.pcwzrd13 wrote:The Wi-Pi dongle is not official. It's made by a third party. What do you see when you type "sudo iwlist wlan0 scan"?stachlj958 wrote:I typed in "iwconfig wlan0" and it says the same thing as it did before except there aren't the lines that say "eth0" and "lo" arent there. Re: WIFI issues
Alright, that means your Wi-Fi dongle is working. If you're not sure of your Wi-Fi network name, you can check on a PC or tablet/phone to see what you're connected to.stachlj958 wrote:11 different networks pop up (I live in a condo). Is there a way to scroll up and down? I can't view mine.
