How do you type in XDP with your controller?

I am in the information setup screen to configure to go online for the first time but i cant type anything.

Damn i cant remeber off top of my head lol... u might just burn web browser 2.0 and use that to type stuff in

I strongly believe you need a keyboard as I do not believe their is any other support for configuring.

XDP Limited Edition R-4 has a customized PlanetWeb 2.6X as one of the selectable startup options, and that lets you configure with a controller. That's what I used. If that's the XDP version you have (which is pretty likely, as it's the final release), there's no need to burn an extra disk.

...The weird thing is, XDP allows controller typing literally everywhere else...

still cant connect unfortunately, here my setup

Pi 2 with Wifi Dongle
Dell NW148
TeleTone T3 Line simulation

not sure what is wrong, i know i have done everything correctly

well i can say my dreampi is just stuck at the login part, on the dreamcast itself after a few seconds it just says

Connection failed
could not connect to the internet

it could not be dialed.

tried 111-1111 and 555
