Hello everyone !
I feel bad when my first post is about me need som help but atthe same time i know the dreamcast scene is a very helpful community so ill give it a try.
I am trying to setting up a dreamcast developement enviroment and has come to a problem (sorry for my bad english , im from sweden ;D )
I am following the guide on http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread. ... t216433273 and have done everything exept 2 things before i can dig in to the developement examples and start learning the basics in KOS.
In Cygwin im in the kos-ports/utils/ folder and am trying to execute following code: ./build-all
When i do this i got the error message: no such file or directory ( see attached picture ) , the thing is there is a file in the utils folder called build-all.sh so it really should work.
I would be really glad if someone could help me out here a bit <3
Thanks in advance

Re: Guidance needed (Setting up Dreamcast Tool Chain and Development Environment)
I've tried to build a KOS toolchain myself, I couldn't build it either. I think it's because it's updated more than the documentation is updated
It would be cool if someone did an updated Linux and Cygwin tutorial. I'm pretty sure the others are 5+ years old

EDIT: can you show me a screen shot were your build-all.sh exists. I'm not seeing it in your screen shots. If its in another folder you can just move it to that folderFlorreW wrote:Hello everyone !

talked to our resident linux experts. They told me to tell you to type vi build-all.sh to verify code exists for that file. Type :q to quit from vi

Maybe try contacting the developpers currently working on DC professional homebrew releases.

Re: Guidance needed (Setting up Dreamcast Tool Chain and Development Environment)
It worked for me, but there are still two errors preventing me from compiling half of the samples pertaining to genromfs and another new one that I haven't figured out, but I have a thread on dcemulation that will help you if you encounter those also
Linked in the guide is kos_setup_script.sh, which downloads, builds, and installs everything in one go (except for my issues mentioned). It took 6 hours to complete though so be ready to wait awhile
I was able to compile some samples, convert from elf to bin, then run over coders cable, so I can confirm it will 99% work

Re: Guidance needed (Setting up Dreamcast Tool Chain and Development Environment)
I was able to build Kia on my computer, what you need to do is download from the main source don't look at the guide you were looking at just the original iOS website. Run make on every inner folder of kos ports instead of running them all at once as the tutorial suggests. Then if you see that a port had compile errors you will see what packages you are missing for your environment Cygwin or Linux. Install them and run make on the port again. Best of luck
Edit:
Run make install on each folder within kos-ports then for every error you will see which packages are missing for example command curl not recognized -> install curl then run make install again good luck
