If you follow the modern gaming world, you'll known that Madcatz have just filed for bankruptcy:

I understand Madcatz didn't have the best reputation but I'm a fan of their Dream Controller and always preferred it over the official DC pad. I like the large round design (unlike the smaller "jagged" official pad) and the rubber cap on the analogue stick - it made playing racing games much more comfortable. The programmable button feature also made things easier on games with rigid controller set-ups. Superficially, I liked the colour scheme too, owning four of them.
What are your opinions on the Dream Controller? Are there other Dreamcast accessories from Madcatz that you like? Or is it case of "good riddance to bad rubbish"?

I thought they never sold enough many of their products are of questionable build quality
Dream Controller ? Aren't 3rd party controllers fatal for the ports ? From what I know everything even official need to sit a bit loosely in the port .. I'd like to try that controller but I fear it would go just a bit too far out @ any time

Re: Madcatz Dream Controller (company now bankrupt)
I heard. News of their potential demise has been on my current events feed since it was announced a few days ago that the NYSE pulled them out after their shares were selling at less than 1 cent. It was inevitable really. Also sad considering quite a few people are out of a job which is never good. I just hope they fulfilled orders for their Tekken 7 line of sticks that was just recently announced a few weeks ago. I really want one.
Anywho, to answer the question, I actually haven't tried their Dream Controller (I have a few of them still new/unopened), tho I have heard very good things about em.
What I have tried is their Dream Blaster Gun for the DC and I absolutely love it. Best 3rd party gun outside of the Treamcast BioGun IMO. It works well and solid build quality. I also like their assorted colors of DC memory units. Try look nice and do the job. I have red, purple and blue I believe.

I have two of their dc controllers and also find them very comfortable. They are my go to controller. Never had any issues with them.

Re: Madcatz Dream Controller (company now bankrupt)
I had a mad catz DC controller back in the day. It was pretty good build quality and the joystick was pretty smooth. The rubber cap on the joystick was cool, but over the years the rubber oxidized and got hard on mine so it just felt like plastic anyway.
I enjoyed the pad on games like Jet Grind Radio - I didn't like it for 2D fighters or other dpad intensive games - I found the dpad imprecise and bad for frequent quick movements that I could do easily on the stock DC pad's dpad.
