Grandia II graphical glitch question

i remember an item with broken name when i have played this on real hardware, long time ago now.
it was the Echelon release

This, I remember something very similar to OP's post when playing from a burned CD, but take this with a grain of salt as it's been 10+ years since then and it's a fairly inconsequential thing to say I'm 100% sure about it. Hope you guys figure out exactly what's happening here.
