Indeed it is a port , but bad ? Definitely not. They could probably put some effort to enhance it but it is a great game none the less:)

So there might be DC builds tht aren't as obvious is all I am saying.
The SR 1 on DC it was a bad port from PS1. Sometimes you think its running from bleemcast.
What are you talking about? I am saying you can't always depend on the sr2 screenshot with the sr1 character model because eidos said they replaced that model with the same model as the ps2 version which makes it less obvious what's running on what.
Sorry man, now I understand what you meant

I do not disagree with what you say is not a bad game, but I expected to see more on the capabilities of the console.:)

The SR 1 on DC it was a bad port from PS1. Sometimes you think its running from bleemcast.

I think it's a relevant point. If the character model from Soul Reaver 1 is an indication of the game running on Dreamcast, but the character model from Soul Reaver 1 is actually a bad port of a PS1 character model, then how could we ever tell the difference between a Soul Reaver 2 screenshot using a Soul Reaver 1 Dreamcast character model running on Dreamcast and a Soul Reaver 2 screenshot of the game running on PS2 with a surprisingly good port of a Soul Reaver 1 character model which was originally ported from PS1 files? Maybe it was running from a PS1 build earlier than the Dreamcast release and that could explain why the Soul Reaver 1 character model which may be actually the PS1 original version they used to start making the sequel on PS2; it could just be that all early PS2 builds have the PS1 character model.
But this is all unconfirmed conjecture right? I'm just trying to make sense of what I'm reading on this site LOL.
I do see a point out there somewhere but it's all going to change depending on whether the character model actually did come from PS1 and how they would have gone about making the sequel. With this information we could draw better conclusions.

Bleemcast is another factor, since it also looks to be an early PS1 build of the PS2 version running on Dreamcast via Bleemcast. Can't you tell from the screenshot?

Not sure what people are smoking here.. Soul reaver 1 on dc is major upgrade in draw distance and textures and speed over any version including the pc version it's flag ship of what the Dreamcast can do..

Have you even watched side bvy side of the ps1 or pc version compared to the DC version one of the best port to any system.. Not only upgrade in fps over the pc and ps1 version major upgrade over them both..

Pc version cant even hit 30fps most of the time ps1 has such a small draw distance when you go to jump you cant see the next part..

Maybe you you go back and play each one lol..

I have no idea what nonsense you are saying but i did a comparison between the dreamcast screen shots of sr2 and the finished models from the game. They match 100% down to where the baked lighting was. Dreamcast was already running the finished models

PS1 version is terrible
Granted it is amazing for the system, but it is all clipping & stuttering. It doesn’t even reach the DC’s ankles in terms of hseer performance & polish. SR & Shadow Man are examples of PS1 games done justice on the DC…

I´d add in that group of enhanced ports from lesser powerful hardware to DC that make justice to the original game: Pro Skater 1 and specially 2, Spider-Man, Mortal Kombat Gold, Tech Romancer, Plasma Sword ....and the best of all: Soul Calibur (remember SC comes from System 12, which is a "PS1 Pro"). But SC is leagues ahead of any of them, because they created a proper 128 bit worth game, using 32 bit original engine as a base...With SR1 they made a great job, but still crossgen graphics...SR2 was the game meant to take advatange of DC hard, but then it flopped....I say the same in all the forums im in, is there nobody from the industry here? we need to make it happen (SR2 DC)

I agree with those games as well.. I think people got rose colored glasses on ps1 games .. if you put therm side by side with the dc upgraded ports there so far above..

Not sure what people are talking about most of the time..
