Could we make more kart tracks for the raceing stages. Sort of how the old dlc worked, or different Characters model small changes? Or would this be more SA2 modding.

The problem with the old DLC is that it didn't make new levels, it simply locked off sections and added some disc-based assets to existing levels.Retro-45 wrote:Could we make more kart tracks for the raceing stages. I believe there are two tracks in Twinkle Park in SA1, and chopping any sections off or adding items wouldn't do very much.
Modding the tracks into different shapes etc would be a much larger modding job, and might even be impossible without the source code.

Imagine Gamma in Twinkle Park racing all his brothers. That would be coolRetro-45 wrote:Could we make more kart tracks for the raceing stages. Sort of how the old dlc worked, or different Characters model small changes? Or would this be more SA2 modding.

Something like that would require a game modification at the minimum, which is outside of the main topic here.Anthony817 wrote:
The DLCs clearly can add some kind of programming into the game for missions, including saving times or scores to re-upload to the website. Literally the first DLC for AT&T WorldNet did this. What's the chance we could do a sort of custom mission, say, "Find The Item Box?" You'd be given a photograph of where the item box is, located in a level, and the only hint you have is the level it belongs to, and of course, what the item box itself is, in a somewhat obscure location. The mission itself would be to find that as fast as possible, at which point, it would save the time to the VMU and you'd be able to upload that time file to the website.
We're of course operating on good faith, since we live in the era of Flycast with easy online connectivity, and easy hex-editing of VMI and VMS files, but there could be some fun to be had with this whole DLC thing now.

Maybe collection Chao's as Sonic in Emerald Coast. Or Sonic in the maze part of Tinkle Park Amy goes through when being chased. Maybe the DLC can be called Sonic's Nightmare and you have to find Chao's in it. I myself think the game should of had more Chao exposer. Everyone loves ChaosWedgeStratos wrote:Something like that would require a game modification at the minimum, which is outside of the main topic here.Anthony817 wrote:[youtubenew]

If you could do that with Sonic Adventure, that would be AMAZING. However I reckon, if possible, it would be a new disc image with more content. VMS/VMI files are so small I doubt they could hold that much data.Anthony817 wrote:

Well good thing is that it shows the engine is at least modable in this current day and age with the tools that are available. So perhaps the DX content could be modded in somehow. I really hoped so as I loved playing the local multiplayer minigames with my brother back on the GameCube.

But that's the Sonic Adventure DX engine, not the original. I'm not sure how compatible they really are with one another.Anthony817 wrote:Well good thing is that it shows the engine is at least modable in this current day and age with the tools that are available.
