If it doesn’t work I can try booting DreamKara from the browser. So a soft reset will bring you back to the webpage. Hopefully with the mic working.

Something to adjust in Hong code, once enviroment is different to him running from dreampassport?

maybe try booting another media player like gyplay, dcdivx, instead of xing hong.
or what about linking a 4xm, mpg, avi, sfd video file from the browser?
this way you could make a selfboot script with all the files and then add a video to make custom karaoke disks.

i think you're on the right track since you boot into dreamkara and mic stays enabled.
more than likely you will get it working in a few more attempts.

Oh yes, all those possibilities to play custom videos, even 4xm and others, perfect to gdemu + karaoke users

In my case, i need / want be able to play the original vcd discs

Hong plays the VCDs, but also can be other player

From what i remember xing hong was picky when booting from another bin as far as it playing vcds afterwards.
Have you tried playing your vcd with gyplay?
I thought the dreamcast played cd+g disks by default? so you're using a karaoke vcd and you want to use it with your setup?
you might find that drez figures a way to do custom karaoke disks with either media files or another media player all using browser dreamkara thingy?
if he does then you could just rip your vcd's and then add them to a newly modified dreamkara thingy disk.

Gyplay allows swap disc? Want to play that kind of original vcd, have a collection of them
