I changed my registry settings for my modem for the init to include ATs15=128, now I have to test it and I will report back.

EDIT: When I tried it, I seperated the key changes with commas, and it came up with the modem failure message when I tried to start the monitar for the Dial-Up Server.

I changed them to semi colons and put them at the end of the registry strings, and will report back once again.

Nope it said monitoring failed, I will do a search on how to edit a pc's modem init commands properly, once again, I will report back.

I found out how to edit the modem init strings wiihout using the registry editor, I will report back after testing.

Thanks for bringing this up. I didn't think to look whether I was using my modem at its max speed. I had the port speed limited to 38400bps before. Now I'm getting an extra 9600bps.

Does that work with the XDP browser?

That site does load on XDP. It says my connection speed is 16kbps with a response time of 602ms. lol I also tried another site to compare the speed and got 18.6kbps so I'm sure its accurate.

But now that you've brought this up.. I'm curious what connection speed someone using regular dial up is getting, and also what someone using the BBA is gettting. So that we can compare all three.

Dial up modems have a max up 56k down. Legally you can only have 51k or something like that going through public phone lines. If you have quality phone lines and a good connection you could get up to 45-50 down.

EDIT:BBA depends on what DSL speed you have. I have 13mbs down. thats 13,312 kbps.

EDIT 2: It may sound like you have bad connection but those games were built for 33k-56k connection. The original jap and PAL modems only went as high as 33k. That is probably why PSO only lets 4 people. But if you play quake 3 with 16 people be ready for a laggy game.

I know all the technicalities, I'm just wondering if people who use these methods could use the DC browser to compare them.

You could make post and ask people to put up speed test results. That speed tester wont work with bba. i tried my computer and it downloaded too fast to give results.
