You say the dc buses may handle 100 mbit, but you should also consider the software, in this case, XDP. I dont think it was coded to handle that much bandwidth. And i dont think theres any browser made for the dreamcast for that.
Hence why I said "with the proper code" you could get high speeds. Its entirely possible to write crappy code and get crappy speeds. In theory its possible to max out the 100Mbit connection. In practice, I doubt anyone was even planning for that kind of bandwidth in the Dreamcast's heyday. Why should they, after all 1.5Mbit/sec connections were fast back then.

I did not mean for this topic to get so complicated. I'm sure in theory you can do anything. The fact is not one single online dreamcast game or web browser will ever fully utilize a 100Mbps ethernet adapter. As I said in the very first post I am just curious what kind of speeds people are seeing on their dreamcasts with the various methods to connect so that we can compare them. Such as linux PC-DC, mac PC-DC, windows PC-DC, BBA, regular dialup, etc. And yes obviously the BBA is going to be much faster, but there is no way that it is ever going to match your PC's broadband connection speed unless you are using REALLY cheap dsl. The fact that its hardware is capable of doing so is irrelevant. Don't think too far into this..

It also depends on the speed of the server you are testing it from. I can test from an out of state server and my speed is faster.

I used the first link with the 100k file and got 12kbps with a 580 something ping.
