I was stuck with a Playstation and completely hated the thing. But my cousin had one and I fell in love with it. So now I'm going back and trying to relieve my childhood I guess. So I have a questions?.

1. What are some good games to buy for the dreamcast? (I've heard Shenmue like a billion times, but what other games are good?) And I'm talking ALL genres too. I'm a big fan of sports, shooters, racing, action.

2. I've seen on Ebay that they have a LOT of japanese versions of dreamcast. Since they are NTSC-J or whatever. I'm guessing I can't play the American versions of the games on it. Right?
REZ, but its expensive, so I would just download the DCRES release.

GD-R is the disc format that official games use, if someone says they have a game of gd, gd-rom, or gd-r they mean they have the official disc for it.

ok first of there are lets say three code names
Theres GDI
CD-R
GD-R
GD-R is the acual dreamcast game as in its the real game not a cd-r copy im not saying that its not good but for online i preffered the actual copy.
dont waste your money on shenmue
Why you ask because theres a dcres version of the first game. a save converter to convert your save. then theres the 99 minute shenmue 2 english voises made by you know who (the great god smith) so if you want to buy the game heres a bettter idea go to deal extreme and order some 99 minute cd-r's don't buy games unless they are madatory or cheap as fuck.
Madatory game Armada, Skies of arcadia

Exactly, how do I go about burning games for the dreamcast? I've heard stories of why this was a downfall for the console. Also, where would I get the original game or do I just download the file online and then just burn it to a disc?

1. Where do I go to download the games/buy/rent or whatever?

2. What type of disc do I need to burn the games?

3. I know this is random but what is the best racing game on the dreamcast in your opinion? lol

You can download games at our own Download section of course where we have the great Tux the Wise, Vasilly, and recently Captain Dreamcast making great copies with quality load times. You burn games with CD-r. GD-r is what sega used becuase the dreamcast came out early before the dvd was popular. It was just a CD with the grooves closer together that is why it can read cd's. It could hold up to 1.3 gb. most games will naturally fit on a cd-r but some need down sampling. The 99 min cd is a cd-r that can hold like 900 mb. there are expensive and not really worth it unless u want to play shenmue 2.

Here is how to burn: Burn with disc juggler:

http://psopalace.schtserv.com/downloads/dj4_demo.zip

Then hit new then click Burn CD and DVD images then do the following:
1. Mount the .CDI file
2. Go to the advanced tab
3. Click the down box and set mode to MODE 2
4. Click RAW WRITE
5. Set write speed at lowest possible
6. Hit burn and within 20-30minutes you should have the disc ready

Most games are auto-boot(meaning they start without having to use another disc) I have not had a game that isn't auto boot and I have tried a lot of games
Crazy Taxi
Quake 3
PSO PAL V2
Typing of the Dead
Sonic Adventure 2
Soul Calibur
Half-life
Sonic Shuffle

All these games I have tried and I can confirm that they should start with out the other disc(I don't even know what the other disc is called because I have never run into the problem)

ENJOY.

There u go! You might want Jdownloader to download the part rar files but ask me or someone once u get there.

Alright thanks for your help. I watched a video on Youtube and he used a program called Alcohol 120% and it seemed pretty easy. He also showed me this website that had the WHOLE dreamcast archive on it and all the links to the games. So I guess I'll jus go there and download. The thing that you use to boot up the game if it doesn't already do it itself is called a "Boot Disk" from what I saw. Just a few questions?

1. If I burn all my games, how will I know the controls/what the things on the screen mean? I won't have the game manuals.

2. What is this stuff called Bleemcast or Bleemgames? Totally confused about it.

3. What is DCRes? I this just a better/upgraded version of the game with faster load times that you guys made?

Some of the rules of the trade.

DCRES & Captain Dreamcast releases are supreme! They are better then the GD! If the game you want as one of these releases by all means choose it!

Also, most games come in cdi format, which is the disc jugglar format.
It is more reliable, and cdi is the most standard DreamCast format there is for cd-rs.

1. If you don't know the controls look them up online :D

2. Bleem is a PS1 emulator for dreamcast. U can't save the game.

3. DC res is way better than DCisozone or anything else u will find. Here is our download index: http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtop ... f=22&t=651

They are all self boot so no boot disc needed. DCisozone is very slow too.

Don't use alcohol 120 percent becuase I have heard people can have a lot of trouble with burning games from there. Just burn from disc juggler with the guide that I posted.

TuxTheWise has his blog along with every DCRES game at Snesorama, if you can't find it here at Dreamcast-Talk go there. I am not sure if I am allowed to link it or not, but here is a link to his blog with his guides and other releases.

TuxTheWise's Blog

If you want/need an UnderGround-Gamer invite, let me know, I will give you one.

Okay so I downloaded TuxtheWise's Crazy taxi DCRes as you guys told me too. Now I did everything but the file is 773mb. Now the Cd-r that I have seen online are only 700mb. What do I do? Also, I've seen some 90 minute cd-r online, but they look low quality? What should I purchase/do?
