Scam indeed. Unless I was buying it directly from a retailer that had unquestionably been carrying the system back in the day I would not trust it to be knew.

Ebay Feedback ratings are completely skewed and worthless anymore. Most of the big sellers demand positive feedback under threat of not leaving you, the buyer any, which is complete backwards from how the feedback system was intended to operate. And I've even had sellers send e-mails that came across as being threats of leaving negative feedback if I didn't leave them positive feedback.

Ebay, in less than ten years time, has gone from being the greatest marketplace the world has ever known to being the biggest hub for scam artists on the planet; like the one that NateN34 has been scammed by.

this simply isn't even possible anymore and it hasn't been for a long time now. it is not possible for sellers to leave negative feedback on buyers anymore. it is kind of stupid really. if a buyer doesn't pay you cant leave a negative feedback. all you can do is report them as a non paying buyer.

Yes, I know this and you know this. But this is part of the ongoing problem of Ebay's self demise. Without a balanced feedback system and a customer support service staff that actually gives a damn about handling problems Ebay is nothing but a garbage heap.

I 've been an ebay member since 1998 and I'm now in my second consecutive year of boycotting selling there. Meg Whitman's ultimate goal has just about been realised even though she herself is no longer with the company. She wanted to get rid of the private seller's, such as myself, by making Ebay a place that private individuals wouldn't feel comfortable selling on. And all I can say to her now is; was it really worth it?

As an Ebay seller I am not allowed to:
- Leave anyone negative feedback.
- State anywhere on Ebay that I accept forms of payment other than PayPal.
- State that once an item has been mailed I'm not liable for what happens.
- Safely mail a package without getting a tracking number.
- Inform buyer's that I will be charging a handling fee.
- Feel confortable with listing anyhting because if Ebay deems I have an item listed in "the wrong category" they will cancel all of my current listings and place a warning strike on my tenured account.
- State my own carefully typed policies by which I expect my buyer's to abide by.

I'm sorry folks, but the Ebay I knew and loved, and that Weird Al sang about, was dragged outside and uncermoniously given a public execution about five years ago by a bunch of cut throat money grubbers from wall street. The Ebay I knew was a free and open market staffed by people who policied it for truely illegal items and scammers.

The present Ebay:
- Oppresses individual sellers with an iron fist.
- Charges nearly a kings fifth in seller fee's.
- Encourages scamming by provides exploits for scammers.
- Embraces sellers of counterfeit merchandise.
- Would rather ban a member than to try and work out a resolution to an actual problem said member is having.
- Encourages liscensed businesses to sign up and sell by giving them privelages, discounts, and services not offered to individuals.

In essence, Ebay is dead, long live Ebay.

Yeh, it pretty much sucks to be a seller on ebay these days. But what just happened makes me glad that ebay has these rules. Without them, the seller would of just ignored me and I would not received any compensation. Therefore the seller and any seller on ebay would be able to scam the customers left and right.

I see alot of people and business's thrive on ebay. Although these fees are ridiculous for the sellers, but the MOST rules are for the better of ebay. For example, mailing a package without a tracking number............that is a good rule and should be standard, although some sellers like to be lazy and not give people tracking numbers still.

Yeh, I understand what you are saying there. But I would be pretty much screwed if I got a mis-advertised product off lets say Amazon.com. Because there is no buyers protection, or filing claims there, that I know of. I try to stay away from Amazon, as it seems like an ebay with no feedback or buyers protection system.

i sell on ebay and i think they over do it with the nickle and dime shit. many times they don't allow me to put a proper postage fee in. if a game cost $2.30 to mail what makes them think that i can male 20 for $9? and that isn't counting packing materials or fuel. ebay would rather i make the auction go for a higher price so they can get a cut of it. i use to hate when sellers put outrageous shipping fees. but ebay needs to at least allow me to recoup my losses
