well the current homebrew doesn't even have drivers for the modem yet alone the dream eye so it will take some hard working dreamcast loving developer to make a good alternative.

What you could do is get the DC-PS3/PC controller adapter and use it as a PC webcam. It would be way easier to make a driver on the PC for that then to make a DC driver.

use it as a webcam for you PC. I do that with my eyetoy. It is a surprisingly good camera with no motion blur.

Actually, KallistiOS has a driver for the Dreameye that I wrote a while ago. Granted, it can't do video, but it can pull any still images off of it and display them (and allow you to delete ones you don't want anymore). Here's a program I wrote to do just what I described above, actually.

Also, KOS also has a working driver for the modem, just no working PPP stack. That's been there even longer than my working Dreameye driver (I didn't write the modem driver though). ;)

So why is it hard to make a ppp stack. I know it is hard to make any homebrew driver function but if you already can control the modem how come no-one has made a ppp stack?

PPP is a rather annoying set of protocols that all interact with each other. Also, the number of people "actively" working on KallistiOS is pretty much 1: me. I figure there's more pressing matters that need taking care of in KOS than a PPP stack that pretty much nobody would use.
