I'd mostly consider it a novelty. Just something cool to have.

Ya, if you are like me, and play tons of emulaters, it is great to have, and the possibility to have videos and music on it like the 360 ps3 and PC's do is a big plus too.
To the OP, sorrry for hijacking your thread. I can tell you that Toy commander is a hell of a fun game. I am 26 and find it amusing to play from time to time. I remember I got it on a demo disc in one of the first issues of the ODCM over 10 years ago.

Yeah, sorry about the hijacking...
...That being said...
I still would like the SD card reader. I'd like to use it to play MP3s and so on off of my Dreamcast.
But I understand playing games off it would be pointless....for now...

Well, Dreamshell is still in development, so it is possible that one day the retail games with CDDA could get much faster.
I think it has been in development since 2006, and it is showing no sign of slowing down. I think the next version of DS will be even better, and I think a few others are writing some programs to run integrated directly off of the DS OS.

I would avoid abbreviating "Dreamshell" as DS. Inevitably there will be people who assume you're referring to the Nintendo DS. Then rumors will start about playing Nintendo DS games on the Dreamcast. Then about how you can play Nintendo DS games on the Dreamcast via the SD card adapter. And then ultimately, "i here theirs an nds game adaptor cummin 2 [or already out for] teh dc!"
So yeah...lets avoid that.
