this is the first i have seen anything about the Dreamcast needing to say WK. i have checked mine and they all do have WK. but i always thought it was suppose to be the model 2s that were the said GD-rom only Dreamcasts?

here is where i found this http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums ... 1&#2104629

Toward the end of the console's life, MIL-CD support was removed from the final Dreamcast revision 2 produced in December 2000 and distributed in North-America.
MIL-CD is a custom type of CD+data disc. Similar to CD+G used for karaoke, except it has a single data track that CD players skip over, going to the music (or they can, in theory you can just play it as if an audio CD in any standard CD audio player). But when put in a DC, it will play the music, but also have extra info, lyrics, stories, internet content, etc. You can pop it into a PC as well, and maybe get wallpapers or other random things (such as are found on some DC games).
This revision does not refer to the model number of the dreamcast and tbh you are unlikely to see one in the usa, but almost certainly affects jpn dreamcasts such as the pink Sakura Taisen
DCs.

USA ones made since December 2000 IIRC were the ones that ditched mil-cd support.

Mith: the more noise you Dreamcast reader does, more damage you're doing to the lens.

About PS2 vs Dreamcast discussion (that remind me the old times... *cries*), I don't care about what people say. I can play on my brother's big LCD TV using VGA Box, and he can't do it with his PS2, so I'm happy with my Dreamcast LOL.

I always thought that burned Dreamcast games would ruin the system.

Now I need to figure out why my Dreamcast won't play the discs anymore. It just stopped one day.

I hade a DC like that once. I started to not read them, then the next thing I knew...it died...twice (I'm still in tears)! I decided to buy a few extra as well as get the system I bought replaced (I spent $8.00 on a service contract for it - which paid off twice). I currently have four in the household (two are actively used, one still works and the forth is junk).
