Yeah i find it so strange that nobody in asia capitalizes on a product that is so simple to make and is in significant demand to this day!

I got my pink shell at a Mom n Pop tech shop (tiny little place that specialized in Computer repair and coincidentially sold a few games and console mod services) during 2003 or 04 for only 15 bucks (assembly included). I was so happy when i replaced the shell of a dirty DC i had recently bought at Lamestop for a mere 15 bucks with a nice and pretty pink transparent shell, heck i even still have the shell packaging box to this day. He had a few more shells at his shop (blue, and clear) and i was gonna buy them but he unexpectedly closed shortly after :( the other kicker is that he had an impressive supply of Sealed DC titles on sale for decent prices. I picked up Tech Romancer and KOF DM99 for a mere 15 bucks. Ahhh the memories :)

Huh, but they are not worth more then 20 bucks anyway!
You get a Hello Kitty or a Sega Sport dreamcast for 80 bucks used so!
I recently aquired a Sega Sports DC for no more than $30. guess i got lucky perhaps...

I had a BRAND NEW Sega Sports Dreamcast back in the day, I can still smell that new plastic smell. I traded it for a 3D0 and 60 games, those are expensive now, so I don't feel bad at all about that, but I do kinda miss that rare black Dreamcast. I just fucking HATED that Sega Sports logo.

Black Dreamcast's are sexy, no matter how you dice it, so ya.

That was a pretty good trade, i would of done the same. I actually don't mind the Sports Logo at all and don't see why so much hate on the logo. The Sega Sports franchise as a whole was a huge success for the Dreamcast in the US and brought the console to the masses here in the states to both the casual crowd and the sports nuts. It deserves it own console for that :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Sega Sports franchise, and the 2K Sports name become 2K games?

I thought they did, but I could be very wrong. If I am wrong, I just find it funny that there is a company called 2K games.

Oh an yeah, the 3DO systems go for round $200 now, so it was a pretty great deal at the time.

The development teams behind the Sega sports franchise (Visual Concepts handled NFL and NBA titles while sister developer Kush games did NHL and perhaps MLB) these studios were eventually sold to Take-two interactive (which btw also own Rockstar and many others) for 20 million. Sega probably saw no real reason to keep Visual concepts as a 2nd party development studio after EA games cowardly bought exclusive rights to the NFL licesnce thus preventing sega to continue the acclaimed (and Madden's direct competition) NFL 2K seires. After Take-Two bought these development houses from Sega, they created a flagship publishing label simply known as "2K" specifically for Visual concepts projects and futre dev houses which Take-two would ultimately aquire. 2K publishing housed two specifc divisions (2K sports and 2K games) reflecting a product under said division. Visual Concepts today still play a major role in the success of Take-Two in the form of their popular NBA 2K seires. If EA wasn't such Pussies by eliminating the competition the way they did, I'm certain Sega would've kept VC and continued the profitable NFL and NBA 2K franchises :/
