why is their site in Russian?

Anthony817 wrote:You read that right. We are going to get new cars and hopefully tracks in 4X4 Evo for our Dreamcast! The game is a Windows CE game, so it is so close to the PC version that we can mod it similar to the way we mod Half-Life on Dreamcast. I only seen car mods in GTA on teh original Xbox, so this is a pretty big advancement to our thriving homebrew and modding community.

Check this new Jeep mod out.

cptPauer, the creator of the mod is taking suggestions, so if there are new cars you would like to see on the Dreamcast, or new music you would like to see included in the game speak now of forever hold your peace.

You can find car mods here.

I also blogged about it if anybody cares to look.

I do believe that music can also be changed as well (i recall Ex changed his), granted the music in 4x4 evo is lame and i usually mute it.

Something should also be done with the engine sounds because not all of the trucks have a V8 but yet they all have the same sound, i do believe they can be altered as well, but do not think it can be altered for each engine type.

It is a pretty big Dreamcast website in the Russian Speaking community. We use the site because it was the place where the first half-Life Dreamcast mods were posted, and they have a small community of very dedicated developers for the Dreamcast.

Do you know about the many Half-Life mods?

You can find over 10 versions of the HL game and the 2 best mods I really recommend you try are They Hunger Trilogy, and Paranoia. Paranoia is the best looking FPS on the Dreamcast, it really pushes the hardware to its limits.

I uploaded almost all the mods at Theisozone.

You can even use saves on They Hunger and Paranoia when the game prompts you to save. Don't try to save at any other time unless you want to load outside the map.

Sure I actually burnt a beta he released.
If anyone wants to test the game, here's CDI image - http://www.multiupload.com/9URH3PVK0V

v0.1.2b =) - video, logos, yadpcm, CDDA and levels test.
-used now english version of game. (Snesorama is rock))
-added new intro video (just for fun. This is a test of video playback). Downloaded it from youtube.
-added new CDDA music from Rock'n'Roll racing and Road Rush (just for fun. this is a test of CDDA. Will be replaced. Is that if you like it ..). On some music tracks put voice of Larry (like "Let's carnage begin..")
-added new logos (They are terrible, I know. This is for test.)
-added new menus music (some are repeated. This is just a test too. Rock'n'Roll racing, Asphalt PSP, Road Rush)
-added new checkpoint sound as in MTM2. If I put the correct voice (I'm not sure. I have 4 of them) this is the final version.
-added new truck - the good old Jeep Wrangler YJ (I did not create it, if that)
-added new custom map - CRAZY 2011 =D Just to check if that possible, do not expect much from it.
It turned out pretty nice, so I decided to post the link.

If someone has downloaded and will play on Dreamcast, then tell us about bugs with music and textures. My blank discs have been completed =( If not Makaron...

Im glad to see some progress on this project. does the custom track work in both single player and online modes ?

I do know that the unpatched pc version suffered from a checkpoint bug to where you could only trigger a checkpoint going the proper direction, this made a lot of the tracks hard to finish because you could not trigger the checkpoint. i do not remember if the DC version suffered from the same issue or not.

I wouldn't know about online, but I assume the game would think it was the normal music since it was named the same as the original game.

Not sure about the checkpoint bug, but I think sometimes I hit the checkpoints the game don't recognize I went through it, but it may just be me imagining things.

i wasnt talking about the music, i was refering to a custom track as in race track/map. the bug only effects the checkpoint if you try to drive backwards through it, it would not detect that you drove through it. I cant remember if this issue was in the DC version or not, its been so long from when i played the DC version. yeah the music should work fine.
