By any chance, in regards to MK gold, whats the color of your disc?
Haha, and I assure you they don't work with my vga box, as I tried to boot them with boot discs last week to check and see if that would help :)

Regarding the disc color, I just got back to school, away from my collection, and I don't remember off the top of my head. Were there different pressings? My disc case cover is a white label with the holographic manual cover.

Well both titles are displayed in VGA mode in my Youtube channel so... lol!

Yes there was! That's why I'm asking! If your disc case cover does not have a "Hot New" green sticker on the upper left corner, then I'm gonna assume that it's the first pressing disc (disc is in yellow gold instead of the later red disc) this first pressing is a huge mess! bugs aplenty, game crashes under certain situations and the game is not compatible with any memory card made for DC. I'm also going to assume that this version also doesn't support VGA. The new "red" disc revision fixing every single issue mentioned. Regarding MvC, I have no clue as to why it won't work with VGA. What brand VGA device are u using?

Yeah my disc is definitely not red! It's also crashed before while mid fight... and no "hot new" sticker on it either, so I guess I have the 1st pressing
Another interesting thing about it, not sure if this is different with the second revision - when you open the DC lid up while the game is going, it doesn't automatically revert to the bios screen like all other DC games. Instead it keeps going with what was already loaded into memory like a PSX game.

My VGA box is this one, not the more commonly seen square ones. It seems to work fine for the majority of my games - and the one's it doesn't work with tend to be the one's that are known to be VGA incompatible.

My US SOA has a blue disc one and a red disc two. Works fine in VGA and saves just fine too...

Dark: well there u have it. That's perhaps the problem. Always buy HOT NEW Miday titles as they fixed a lot of issues that plauged their first print runs like bad bugs and VGA compatability or lack thereof.

Is any version of Hydrothunder VGA compatible? I know that's another Midway title that had issues with the first pressings, and I've heard it doesn't work on vga (don't own it myself yet though)

Yes! Although it must be force/tricked to enable VGA compatibility. In regards to Hydro in the US, there are three variants, the first pressing, the Hot New sticker reprint and a Sega All Star reprint. I have a first print release disc and a Hot new version I think (both are like a blue colored disc and the Sega All Star is a red disc I believe). The strange thing here is that I can force both of my discs to work with VGA but fellow DC-talk "pcwzrd" which has an All Star Hydro cannot be made to work with VGA under any circumstance through his efforts! So looks like perhaps midway removed VGA on it (it does't make sense cuz it's usually the reverse that occurs with re-releases). I'm trying to figure this mystery out myself by getting an All Star version myself!
