I think the difference is from the 360 alone. I used to enjoy consoles but I've always been a big PC gamer (hell I still am). Game consoles always had a distinctly Eastern vibe and the market consisted of J-RPGs and arcade ports (because arcade games also had an Eastern feel, shmups, fighters, etc.). I always saw value in having a PC and a good console because of this; I would get the best of both worlds, FPS vs. 2d shooters, J-RPGs vs. Bioware style Western RPGs, and so on. Now with the 360 dominating the market in America all we see are Western style games on consoles. The fact that they've become repetitious and formulaic devalues them as well but there really isn't a reason to choose between PC or console anymore since they satisfy the same market.

Agree with most of this. The only problem is when some of the few games that dosen't suck come out on the PC they are hopelessly broken and the developer is to lazy to fix them. Anyone try to play the Dirt series on an X64 PC ? Now i have a $60 mini frisbee.

That is very true and very frustrating (my new computer can't run software built around mid level tech from 7-8 years ago?!). Bad coding sucks and I don't support devs who put out lazy ports such as EA. On the bright side though we have some great games coming out of countries like Russia. Stalker, Mount & Blade and Metro 2033 were amazing games even though Metro did come out on the 360 as well. The Witcher 2 is one of the best games I played in a long time and has some amazing optimization.

I just hate the fact many games are now used for instant profit. They use all strategies in order to make ppl buy the game, mindless consumerism exists in just about everything really, not just games.
Deadlines for game creation are becoming shorter, making teams often miss bugs because no time is put into testing, skyrim is a fine example of that and it's a game that it's not meant to be played on a console, without console commands to solve most problems, playing that game on xbox is a suicide and a waste of money really.

HD remakes are also other ways of making money.

I hate dlc completely, especially when buying it costs more then the game itself.

Sometimes even great games such as mass effect 2 or section 8 can be bought quite cheaply (atleast here) and sometimes bad games cost a truckload of money and that happens because the game sells alot due to mindless consumerism.

Dreamcast era +- still had games with creativity.

Yes, developers try hard into providing good games, especially since competition is so strong, still, many only care about sending trailers and teasers so that ppl buy the game.

There is a video on the web separated into 2 parts with some problems in video and sound, i have that same video in VHS and i asked a shop to send the tape to the laboratories so they can convert the video into dvd, i will upload it on youtube once it's finished, the games showed there are great, despite beeing from an era that some ppl never experienced.
Every time i see the video, i think of how much things have evolved and what awaits us in the future.
Probably more dlc, more hd remakes and even more bugs

Fortunatly i don't pay for entertainment.

Edit: some typo mistakes

Has anyone played Child Of Eden on Kinect yet? Reason enough for the current generation to exist, imo. oh and Bioshock. Oh and Mass Effect 1+2, adore those games.

I'll never forget how I felt when I first started playing Shenmue, or how I felt when I completed Shenmue 2, or the way Jet Set Radio made me feel, or the way Skies Of Arcadia sucked me in for an unbelievable rollercoaster ride around a whole new world, or how amazed I was by MSR's graphics and then Le Mans 24 Hour, or how phenomenally amazing Ikaruga was. To name only a few

DC will always remain the godfather of consoles for me, Its the Pinnacle for gamers who are proper gamers, who aren't people who jump on a marketing band wagon, who play games for that most illusive of mistresses; fun. Dreamcast will forever be the last great, true, Gaming Console in my eyes.

If you have a good enough PC you can get games on Steam for next to free lol. I'm not a fan of pirating; if I pay for a game I'm much more willing to give it a chance and try to find enjoyment in it and sometimes that takes a few more hours than I'm willing to give a pirated game. But I'm also not a fan of spending sixty bucks on a crap rehash of games I've played a hundred times. If you ever get a chance check Steam out around the holidays, every game becomes 50-75% off at their already hugely discounted over console price.

Dreamcast still kills everything else though

+1 to that! I wouldn't play nearly as many PC games if it wasn't for Steam. I have over 50 Steam games, most of which I payed around $2 for! Not to mention the fact that it's extremely convenient too. Installing games takes literally two or three clicks. Some games have cloud saving too so I can continue from where I left off in a game on my laptop.

The Summer Sale is even better.

Hell yes, I love the contests for free games and such. If it wasn't for Steam I wouldn't even play PC games anymore, it just makes it too easy not to.

Do your research though before you buy even on steam. Like i mentioned earlier with Dirt 3 (and 2 for that matter) the game is simply broken and cannot be played on a 64bit operating system, this problem is present in both the regular retail disc versions and the digital steam edition.

I have Windows 7 64-Bit on my PC and I've never had a problem running any of my 50+ games. If there is a problem with a game there's usually a fix somewhere if you look around. Dirt 3 seems to have multiple fixes available. Just Google it and you'll see.
